As a newly founded not for profit community organization, we are proud to be part of the Bay Light Orchestra, an exciting new community orchestra based in the Midland area.
We have grown since our inception in October 2018 and we have needed to hire a space in Georgian Bay Secondary School to accommodate the 17+ musicians from our area. The Orchestra is continuing to grow as word gets around North Simcoe, and press articles, social media are aiding the venture. Our last concert in May 2019 was a huge success and demonstrated how much the orchestra is valued in the area.
The music we play is generally light–hearted and well–known pieces from a repertoire that spans centuries and genres. We are always looking for dedicated players for the orchestra and Board members with a passion for music in the community. Bay Light Orchestra is uniquely cross – generational and inclusive with our players age ranging from 10-80! Our membership fees are relatively low and it sustains the hire of the venues for rehearsing and playing concerts. Future ticket sales for concerts will also help to sustain funds. As a Corporation, we have brought together an excellent Board of directors with a vast range of experience and skills to bring to the Orchestra administration and sustainability. All of these volunteers along with a volunteer professional musician as Music Director have made it possible to create Bay Light Orchestra from scratch. Come and join us!
